This morning, while Wayne slept in, Charlotte made him a special Happy Birthday card!

I Wanna Play Like Aunt Katie…

This afternoon Charlotte was running around the house playing with a toy guitar she got from Aunt Sancha & Uncle Erik. {Thanks guys!} The guitar has buttons and depending on which buttons you press, music will play. After a little while I noticed that Charlotte was holding the guitar up to her neck while she played it – WHAT?

When I asked her what she was doing she said “Playing Katie”! Which means she was pretending to play the violin like her Aunt Katie – adorable!

WPP Preschool Easter Egg Hunt

Today Charlotte and I headed over to her preschool to do an Easter egg hunt with her class. Myself and another class parent were able to hide all the eggs in the toddler playground and then we let the kids loose.

Most of the class really got into the hunt but not our Charlotte. She placed Ducky in her basket and wanted to play on the equipment - even tried to go down the slide with her basket.

With some encouragement from Charlotte’s teacher and myself she did pick up a few eggs. When I opened one up to show her what was IN the eggs - suddenly she was REALLY motivated.

Charlotte liked the bug toys (especially the butterfly) and candy eggs. It was also so nice to meet many more of the parents of her classmates and to watch all the kids running around with such excitement – the more time Charlotte spends with her class the more we love this school!

Ps – The Mom of one of Charlotte’s classmates made THE most adorable iced egg cookies for each child in the class. The cookies even had each child’s name printed on them – just precious – and what a nice thing to do! Everyone knows that kind of personal touch is right up my alley – told you I love this school!

Look What Charlotte Made...

I just love Charlotte’s preschool more and more! I sure wish they had room for Charlotte to go more days a week – she would LOVE that! Every day they have new topics they explore and it seems to loop into themes for each month. This month they learned about ocean creatures.

Just thought I’d share a photo, courtesy of her teacher Mrs. Kris, of Charlotte making an oatmeal starfish and then the finished project. She also did a funny “pin the tentacles on the octopus” project. The kids were learning about the number eight and how many legs the octopus has but Charlotte’s interpretation is so darn cute!

I HEART having her creations to display on our fridge – Charlotte likes it too. She points them out and tell us “Charlotte did it”! ;)

One Sunny Afternoon..

This picture just makes me LAUGH! We spent some time hanging out in the back yard today and Charlotte, being Charlotte, had to have her accessories – Ducky and sunglasses. She trekked them all over the yard and spent quite a lot of time making sure they were “just so” whatever we were doing. For instance I was trying to get her to go down the slide with her hands in the air but that meant she would have to put Ducky down in her lap…think she went for it…NO WAY! Every time I brought it up or tried to show her how to do it – she said “NO Mommy, don’t want it!” If you have spent any time with Charlotte recently you know that she has gotten really vocal about what she wants and doesn’t want and is NOT afraid to put some oomph behind her words. She just gets louder and LOUDER! Ugh! Okay, what did she want to do? Take Ducky AND the sunglasses for a swing, of course!

[Have to make a side note here and thank my Dad and step mom, Leigh, for Charlotte’s swing. It took us FOREVER to get the back yard cleaned up and a swing set to put the swing on BUT as soon as we did, Charlotte was in HEAVEN! I should also thank Doug for finding the swing set {and getting us such a good deal} and Cameron and Vanessa for helping us put the huge thing together!]

We had a great afternoon…and Charlotte just cracks me up with her quirks!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Eve

Tonight our friends Brittany, Doug, Kevin, Ryan and Marcie came over for a traditional Irish dinner – I made Soda Bread and Lamb Stew. Brittany brought over these adorable pistachio cupcakes – the taste was very light and DANGEROUS! Dangerous because there was a low chance of sugar over load and therefore a very high chance of eating too many cupcakes. We had (as always) a really fun night with a yummy dinner and even better beers … and Mt. Dew (thanks Marice & Ry) to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
