Carrots

Tonight at Red Lobster Charlotte sat in a high chair at a restaurant for the first time. She also tried carrots for the first time too! Wayne is notorious for not liking carrots and for the first few years we were together would always give me a hard time, good natured – for the most part, for eating them around him. Well guess what? Charlotte likes carrots, score one for me! It was actually the first time, other than the teething biscuit, that she leaned in to get more AND smacked her lips! Hurray! She did really well in the highchair too until the end (see the last picture) when she just got so tired and full she was slumped in the chair – too cute! If that is not an “I’m Full” pose, I don’t know what is!

Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my Mom’s birthday, hooray! For work we did a late lunch/early dinner celebration at Red Lobster. Just one more thing my mom and I share in a growing list, love of seafood. YUMM! The three of us had a great time celebrating together. I feel so lucky to be able to have my mom close to me so that we don’t miss big moments like this! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Mom Baby Connection: Childproofing Your House

Today for class we were able to participate in a presentation on childproofing your home. The presenter was the same man who put on the private CPR class I took at Hillary’s house. Just as with the CPR class this was hugely informative and I am so glad to see some of the options we have – there is just SO much to know. During the presentation on how to help your infant if they are choking the CPR infant was brought out. I took a funny picture of baby Rider and his newest “girlfriend” the CPR doll.

Melissa, Rider’s mom, and I were laughing our heads off – hope his dad doesn’t mind?!? I also got a really cute picture of Maite and Christiana, seems like every time we meet, I get cute pictures of them. Its cuz that pair is so photogenic! It was so great to get to see all my M&M friends. It’s been awhile, maybe three weeks, since I last sall the group. With Charlotte’s six month shots and crazy weather, we have missed a few of the gatherings. I was surprised by how much I missed all the girls and how much the babies have grown. Most of the kids are already crawling – it’s going by so fast!

After lunch we went the Melina Mall to have a tasty lunch at the food court. Charlotte was an angle and even entertained herself all through lunch, a trip to MAC and some quick window shopping. I’m a lucky mommy!

Teething Biscuit

Tonight Charlotte was really having a hard time with her teething. My mom suggested we try giving her a teething biscuit and guess what, Charlotte LOVED it! They are special made biscuits for babies to gnaw on and they smell like a graham cracker. It was so exciting to see her actually enthusiastic about a new food. I think that she particularly like having control of the food herself. Anyway, once she had gummed the poor biscuit to gooey nubs, it was time to take it away. I made a joke to my mom that she was so messy that it would be better to put her in the sink and hose her off before giving her a bath.

So, as Charlotte was in the final stages of decimating the poor biscuit, I was loading the dishwasher and sanitizing the sink. I thought this would be a cute picture moment because I have seen so many adorable pictures of babies in the sink before. NOT SO MUCH – WHAT A MESS! No cute pictures cuz Charlotte was trying to grab EVERYTHING – even though I moved things WELL out of reach and even though I put a rubber mat in the bottom of the sink, she was sliding around WAY too much and splashing water ALL over the place.

Wayne's in Vegas

This morning, sometime around the crazy hour of 4:30am, Charlotte and I dropped Wayne off at the airport for his trip to Vegas. He is going to be gone until Thursday for a cooperate managers meeting and expects the next four days to be jammed packed. Wayne and I were a little concerned for a while that hurricane Ike was going to scrap his trip. Luckily for us, unlucky for everyone affected by the storm, the hurricane missed Florida. So, he’s off on his business trip and its just going to be a girl week in the Chambers home. My mom is coming over this afternoon to stay with us until Tuesday – we are so lucky. Charlotte is going to have a blast having Grandma around 24-7 for the next few days! Plus later in the week Wayne’s mom has offered to come by to help out too – hence girls only week in the Chambers house!
